This is a bit about me…
My name is Andy Sitison. I manage the Americas Application Sales Alliances for EMC Corporation.
After a short stint in the restaurant business, I started working in the IT industry about 20 yrs ago. In that time I have been a programmer, DBA, project manager, support manager, business consultant, product manager, and sales guy. I spent most of my time selling line of business solutions/integrations helping change business value chains in pharmaceutical, manufacturing, nuclear/energy and financial verticals. Now I spend my time neck-deep in infrastructure conversations in support of mission critical applications. Across my career, what has motivated me is the creativity required for change and solving problems. Learning how to apply the “new” to optimize the “old”, and how patterns form and re-occur.
I’ve seen lots of technology appear and age out, I’ve seen the scale of IT change drastically, and I have rarely seen perfect models executed flawlessly. However, I’ve seen many brilliant people progress our world one step at a time. My day job is tactical and fast paced. In my blog, what interests me is how technology changes business direction, to raise my head up and think about where we are and where we’re going. I’ll mix in some content specific to vendors in the space and refer to other blogs I want to make sure you see. I apologize now if I rant about travel stories from time to time.
At home I have 3 kids, 2 American Bulldogs and a wife, all busy at work creating the next generation of change agents. I waste a few hours a week banging on my guitars and find time for a walk, run, bike or kayak trip 5-6 days a week (you got to, trust me).
Welcome and I hope you enjoy the dialog.
